The actions that could be taken to help get us where we want to go in the future are called “Stepping Stones” in this process. There is no silver bullet. No tool in the toolbox can serve all purposes, so no one Stepping Stone implemented alone can achieve our desired future. Therefore, each Stepping Stone should be considered to be just one tool in the toolbox that combined can work together to help us go down our chosen path.
At the same time, some Stepping Stones have a much greater impact, moving us much further along the path to achieving the community's vision than other individual Stepping Stones. These are what are referred to here as the Significant Stepping Stones. Some of these items are also integral to how the concepts in the plan were developed.
These ideas were explored a little bit further than other Stepping Stones that were identified as possible tools for implementing the plan. They are also the Stepping Stones that would most likely be put in place within the first year after the Pathways Plan is adopted. The information that will be provided here is still at a broad, conceptual level.
Each one is introduced as a concept on which we need feedback from the community before it can proceed. Many details would need to be worked out before it could be implemented. However, if the community supports the general concepts, staff will work toward developing the item in a way that would make it successful as possible when implemented. Feedback from the Winter/Spring 2007 meetings provided additional direction for these details.
Look for this information to be added on this page once a draft plan is ready for feedback and comment.
